drift FM — Pavel Milyakov & Ugnė Uma

drift FM is the collaborative project of Pavel Milyakov and Lithuanian artist and vocalist Ugnė Uma, bringing Uma’s intimate vocal presence into the slower, more atmospheric reaches of Milyakov’s electronic practice.

Moving between abstract pop, R&B and trip-hop, the music dissolves song forms into minimal electronics, submerged rhythms, noise-softened textures and expansive fields of reverb. Rather than following a conventional live-set structure, drift FM unfolds as a suspended environment: voice and electronics continually approach melody and song without fully settling into them, allowing intimacy, silence and subtle shifts in texture to become part of the composition.

The project brings together two distinct musical languages. Milyakov’s sparse, low-lit production—drawing from ambient, experimental electronics and noise—creates open spaces around Uma’s voice, while her understated, emotionally direct delivery introduces melody and a fragile human presence into those environments. The resulting music moves fluidly between warmth and abrasion, stillness and rhythm, clarity and haze.

drift FM premiered at Rewire Festival in The Hague in 2026 and has continued to evolve through new live material and recordings. Conceived as an ongoing collaboration rather than a fixed performance, the project remains deliberately fluid, with a full-length recording currently in development.
