ANFS is the Athens-based project of producer and DJ George Anyfantis, whose music occupies a distinctive space between techno, industrial electronics, rhythmic noise and the more fractured edges of club music. Rooted in the underground culture of his home city but resistant to a fixed stylistic formula, his work is characterised by muscular rhythm, detailed sound design and an instinct for introducing instability into otherwise functional forms — shifting between pressure and restraint, mechanical repetition and unexpected rhythmic turns.

Anyfantis came to electronic music through a background that initially encompassed guitar, progressive metal and hardcore punk, before studying sound engineering and music technology. His encounter with techno in the early 2010s coincided with a formative period for Athens' underground electronic scene. The social and economic conditions of the city during those years would leave a lasting imprint on his music: raw, resourceful and uncompromising, but built as much around community and collective activity as individual production.

In 2012, together with Kondaktor and 3.14, he co-founded Modal Analysis, a label that became an important outlet for a generation of Greek artists developing darker and more experimental approaches to techno and electronic music. In 2015 he established his own imprint, Vanila Records, extending this practice of documenting and circulating music from the Athens underground. Alongside his own labels, ANFS has developed an extensive discography across imprints including Horo, Kafta, Inner Surface Music, Agia Varvara Originals, Pi Electronics and Renegade Methodz. Releases such as Ground, Mass, Tzina's House, The Age of Ephemeral Man, A Shallow Ascetic, Havouza and Caos Mi Amor trace a body of work in which techno repeatedly opens out into broken rhythm, industrial texture, low-frequency pressure and stranger forms of electronic abstraction.

That language has continued to evolve rather than settle. In 2025 ANFS released Bourbon on Renegade Methodz, his first full-length techno album: an unusually focused eight-track work built around intricate groove, tonal detail and subtle shifts in texture. Conceived during an intensive engagement with specialty coffee, the record translated qualities of taste, acidity, aroma and fermentation into rhythm and sound — revealing the highly intuitive and sensory processes behind music that can initially appear stark or mechanical.

In April 2026 he followed with Adenosine for Berlin label BITE, bringing ANFS into a label context defined by artists working beyond conventional techno parameters. Across its four tracks, the EP moves between heavy, stripped-back rhythm, off-centre propulsion and the abrasive physicality that has long been central to his work, while demonstrating an increasingly precise command of space and restraint.

As a DJ, ANFS draws on the same breadth that defines his productions. His sets can move through hypnotic and industrial techno, broken structures, rhythmic experimentation and harder club forms without treating genre as a boundary. What connects them is an emphasis on tension, physicality and momentum — music approached not simply as a succession of tracks, but as a continuous architecture of rhythm and sound.

More than a decade into the project, ANFS remains closely connected to the independent culture from which his music emerged while continuing to refine its language. His work carries the imprint of Athens without reducing itself to a regional aesthetic: raw yet meticulous, deeply functional yet persistently strange, and driven by a belief in techno as a space for experimentation rather than conformity.
