SHXCXCHCXSH will be presenting their A/V collaboration with Pedro Maia (premiered at UNSOUND Festival last month) next Friday, November 20th at The Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art in Porto, Portugal as a part of "COLOR SOUND FRAMES," a programme dedicated to the intersections between experimental cinema and music. The 3-Day event also includes a few prominent artists presenting such as Greg Pope w/ Joachim Nordwall "Cipher Screen” and Guillaume Cailleau & Werner Dafeldecker "Resonator I."
"The duo SHXCXCHCXSH has been widely praised and applauded by the specialized media (for instance, Resident Advisor and Pitchfork) due to its particular form of techno, generated from a sensitive and complex approach to this style of dance music, based on elements of noise, glitch, drone, broken beats and heavy industrial beats. The duo is now departing from its complete orientation towards the club scene, and in dialogue with Maia’s films, is now undertaking more atmospheric explorations. The duo will present improvisations with drones, ambient sounds and other yet unknown elements, which will emerge in the next album."
COLOR SOUND FRAMES is based on the title of the film by Paul Sharits, one of the biggest names in this field of artistic creation. With an exploratory and experimental character, COLOR SOUND FRAMES pays special attention to international projects in which images and music are performed live. Projectors and celluloid films, analog video circuits, electronic processing and digital synthesis forge varied relationships between image and sound.
