We are thrilled to announce that 2 amazing Athens-based artists - ANFS & Sawf - are now part of Potnia Theron.
ANFS is an electronic music producer and DJ based in Athens. Involved in various projects since an early age, he discovered an interest in electronic music, weird electronics and obscure sounds while studying sound design. In 2012, alongside fellow friends Kondaktor and 3.14, he co-founded the record label “Modal Analysis”, and later on 2015 he launched his own personal imprint, “Vanila”. Both platforms work as a self-referential point as well as an archive that documents the current electronic scene of Greece.
Sawf started experimenting with electronic music production and digital mixing in early 2000 before he released his first album on Perc Trax in 2011. His sound has been a defining and integral part of the thriving electronic scene in Athens, releasing on Athens-based labels such as Modal Analysis, Vanila, Pi Electronics, Phormix, and his own imprint Kafta.
ANFS & Sawf are the strong driving force of Athens' current electronic music scene and their unique sounds have been penetrating the global music sphere well-beyond their base of Greece with the releases on the labels like Modal Analysis, Vanila, Pi Electronics, Phormix & Kafta.
Unterton introduces an artist who’s already renowned for his work within informed circles but yet to be discovered by most: Berlin-based New Yorker Phase Fatale debuts on Unterton after strong releases with respected labels Jealous God and [aufnahme + wiedergabe] and six well-received club appearances at Berghain.
Originally coming from a Post Punk / Cold Wave band background Hayden Payne stated in a recent Berghain club flyer interview: “Techno [...] resulted from a development of [Wave and EBM] genres and its movements. Punk and Techno share the same mindset, this connection has always been there for me.” Thus it was no surprise that his Anubis12“ for Unterton combines said spirit with four club-ready tracks, placed firmly left of the center.

"...a suspenseful performance, poetic and fragile at times and dare I say dark. The black and white visuals flickering on the big screen contrasted interestingly with the Swedes’ shadows which almost felt part of the visual frame."
More A/V Live performances from SHXCXCHCXSH & Pedro Maia to visit near you in 2017, stay tuned.

First show since their world-premiere A/V Live @Berlin Atonal 2016, Recent Arts (Tobias./Tobias Freund & Valentina Berthelon) is performing at Non Standard is the Standard – 10 Years Non Standard Productions, a night for celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Non Standard Productions with an amazing lineup of:
Live: Atom TM / Max Loderbauer / Recent Arts / Javiera Gonzalez at HAU1 / Afterwards: Party with DJ-Set by Aerea Negrot at WAU
Now celebrating its 10th anniversary and looking back over 35 years of Tobias Freund’s career in experimental electronics, Non Standard Productions has been instrumental in raising the work of its creator and his collaborators to the forefront of contemporary electronic music. The releases are collaborations between Tobias and colleges. As the name itself suggests the idea of the label is to be a platform in witch anything non standard can be released.
The label is orientated to eclectic experimentations, going from the frequency interpretations of MFP to the beat studies of NSI, passing through the freeform rhythms of Margaret Dygas, the uneven scales of Odd Machine, the haunting vocals of Javiera Gonzalez to the live audiovisual performance of Recent Arts. This duo formed by Tobias Freund and Valentina Berthelon has become a primary focus for NSP, is also amongst the label’s most personal statements and a fitting summation to a decade spent keeping nonconformism central to the label while retaining the humanity much contemporary electronic music often lacks.
Non Standard Productions remains true to the mission stated in its name 10 years onwards, illuminating new and unconventional pathways in electronic music to point the way forwards.
"Monica Hits The Ground presents an 80's industrial tape inspired release. Subliminal messages and an unique sense of suffering are highlighted by his own vocals. Wicked bedroom recordings, watching a decaying world through a little window."

Expanding on their collaboration LP "The Long Decline", an 11-track album by Violet Poison and Giorgio Gigli released on Veleno Viola earlier this year, described as 'a techno record treading the line between noise, post-punk and goth-EBM influences', Black Tears Live is meant to be an update of their previous collaboration during co-running Zooloft label while maintaining a noir/nihilist style and attitude but with more DIY, analogue live together with harsher industrial sound and deeper droning styles of techno that was previously heard from both Italian producers.
Potnia Theron welcomes DALHOUS, the cult electronic music project masterminded by Edinburgh-based writer-producer Marc Dall. Closely associated with the Blackest Ever Black label, they debuted on that imprint in 2012 with the Mitchell Heisman EP, before releasing their first album, An Ambassador For Laing, to widespread acclaim in 2013.
Most recently released full length came in March 2016 in the form of The Composite Moods Collection Vol.1: House Number 44, the first LP of a triptych cycle that will be released incrementally over three years. The Wire magazine praised DALHOUS's music “a frequently beautiful music, whose often calm surface belies the powerful currents moving beneath it”, while FACT called the LP a “wonderfully compelling head-scratcher … opaque, elusive – and fascinating.”
The live performance of DALHOUS often draws on 'its own form of degraded imagery' where the images are disintegrated to the extent where colours are brought out and it looks like a painting, reflecting deeply haunting beauty of DALHOUS's music.
SHXCXCHCXSH returns to Berghain for the 2nd time this year after their Live back in June for the release of "SsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSs" LP, and The Empire Line — a new project of Varg & Christian Stadsgaard (Damian Dubrovnik / Posh Isolation) — who will release an EP on Avian later this year makes Berghain debut for Avian Label Showcase.
