Croatian Amor "Isa" LP
Posh Isolation 220
In 2019 Croatian Amor returns with a new album, 'Isa'.
Listen to the first single "Dark Cut" featuring vocals by Jonnine Standish on soundcloud
Copenhagen's Loke Rahbek works in a wide variety of forms. His prolific rate of activity is best viewed through his and Christian Stadgaard's Posh Isolation label. Of Rahbek's many projects, his most eloquent and gentle is Croatian Amor.
2017’s single 'Finding People' bloomed from Croatian Amor's previous album, the widely acclaimed 'Love Means Taking Action'. These melancholic transmissions presented a kind of alien pop. For 'Isa', he has drawn on an impressive list of guests to realise a nauseating narrative of virtual communication and eschatological programming. The album's title invokes a messianic entity, and though it's hard to tell what's imagined or remembered anymore, the play that Croatian Amor is known for feels far more vivid today.
"Enhance photo to reveal a picture of Bird caught mid-flight; enhance again, the bird has a human face screaming."
Never pessimistic, Croatian Amor circles themes of tragedy and comfort to animate a sense of hope. His accomplices pluck details from his graphic scenes like a searchlight drifting over a starlit surface. Alto Aria, Soho Rezanejad, and Jonnine Standish of HTRK, each contribute vocals across the album, cloaked and kerned on Croatian Amor's inimitable stage. Eden 1.1 and its accompaniment Eden 1.2 feature the voices of Frederikke Hoffmeier and Yves Tumor, respectively. These are some of album's most delicate pieces, and where one may find respite from the helix of damaged rhythms that eddy across 'Isa'. Familiar faces from Copenhagen are solicited throughout, and perhaps the album's most endearing quality is the space for volatility that all of the collaboration has invited.
All the signals and timelines lead everywhere and back. Maybe it's only the myths that get us?
The cover of Isa features work by artist Amitai Romm.

Weapons of Mass Destruction - ANFS's New EP on Horo 'A Shallow Ascetic' EP preview is up, 12" available for pre-order via bandcamp
Athens, Greece resident and Vanila records owner ANFS lands on Horo for an EP of jagged, industrial tinged Techno. Breakbeats are hacked and repurposed into brutal shards, with 'Kounoupi's amen march adding a slowed down, vicious take on the infamous roll. 'Salepsa' is a propulsive call to the floor, robust and emphatic, with 'Dervisis' and 'Komena' bookending the EP with rattling menace.
In four years of existence, CXEMA has become not only the central hub for Ukraine’s next generation of ravers, it's now among the most important parties in all of Eastern Europe. Its dark, hard, uncompromising and home to some of the most interesting DJs and producers in Techno right now. Tune in for our very first show from Ukraine, broadcast from the grounds of a former Tetra Pak factory.
One of the biggest techno names from Ukraine with more than 16 years of producing behind his back. Still, he might never have been as prolific as he is now. Random, atonal, psychedelic, minimal techno. Controlled machine made chaos.
Tresor resident REKA steps up on Phase Fatale and Florian Engerling’s BITE label with her ‘Diving The Innermost’ EP. ‘Purge’ is a shadowy, dense cut of dark, industrial EBM/techno
'Diving The Innermost' drops on 22nd October and will be available on www.biterecords.bandcamp.com/album/diving-the-innermost
‘Purge’ is the most spectral, haunting track on display here, standing some distance from the heady rhythms and acid nods found elsewhere on the EP. Instead, this track is drenched in haunted noise, eerie breaths and gasps, gunshot percussion and a low, threatening bass that drags the listener into a tense, gripping sonic headspace.
The Third Helix — Drew McDowall's new solo album is officially out now on Dais Records.
The Scottish artist and former Coil member's next solo effort for Dais Records is "an exercise of unraveling the DNA of hallucination.

🎧 Listen to the Title Track "Diving The Innermost" 🎧
REKA presents her debut EP, Diving The Innermost, on BITE illustrating the wide stylistic approach well beyond techno that she has harnessed as a DJ and producer for over a decade. A seasoned veteran starting out in Madrid in 2004, she joined DJ Hell’s International DJ Gigolo Records as part of the duo leChic, culminating in the seminal mix CD leMix. Now based in Berlin, she has held a residency at techno institution Tresor for the past five years and has been perpetually touring throughout Europe: Berghain, Sonar, KHIDI in Tbilisi, Katharsis in Amsterdam, Kaos in London, and Joy in Moscow amongst others. Throughout her journey, REKA has carved out her own sound with a vast and deep musical knowledge that seamlessly blends together techno with its prototypical pasts as well as its future trajectories into carefully narrated stories that constantly ebb and flow with her artistic vision and technical prowess.
The music of Diving The Innermost reflects REKA’s intelligently curated DJ sets with each track offering a different view into her wide-ranging arsenal, which puts her right at home alongside the similarly eclectic stylings of labelmates Phase Fatale or Silent Servant. The opening title track begins with a driving synthline, only starting out as a low rumble but building into an engrossing wall of sound as grooving rhythm and sinister pads move it forward as if effortlessly manoeuvring down a dimly lit tunnel. “Purge” sets a different pace, even using her own voice to guide itself into more heady and industrial atmospheres. On the flip side, “Polarity” shows REKA’s past while combining acid and electro qualities with a futuristic sci-fi sonic palette firmly embedding it alongside contemporary techno. “Under My Eyelids” closes the EP with a descending bassline and a commanding groove. Once again, it furthers REKA’s singular approach that illustrates techno’s infusion with her extensive background of electronic music.

Teste serves up a massive mix for GROOVE-Magazin featuring the track list that's as long as its history since the inception of 'the iconic 1992 belter', "The Wipe". Teste's recent comeback is marked by their new EP "The Box Man" on BITE imprint, a label curated & run by Phase Fatale with Florian Engerling.
"It’s a good time for rough and bleak techno, for dystopian and transgressive sounds. Teste’s return after many years of radio silence isn’t that surprising then, perhaps their tracks – like the iconic 1992 belter „The Wipe“ – are no being played more often than ever. Dave Foster, the last remaining founding member in 2018, doesn’t mince words about his comeback, which sees him teaming up with Martin Maischein alias Goner for an EP on Phase Fatale’s BITE imprint."
Valentina Berthelon and Tobias Freund aka Recent Arts presents
- SKIN -
We live in an increasingly technological world characterised by a never ending desire of perfection. An era of smartphones and social media that constantly attempts to divide us, disembody us and categorise the body. In this context, we see the need to present the “moving body itself” as communicative agent, using improvisatory actions as one of our main sources of inspiration and creation. The body and the skin will never be perfect nor allow perfection to be achieved. On the contrary, body and skins manifest as an evolving map of the individual’s experience, which cannot be wiped clean and which is in a constant process of decay and regeneration.
“Skin” is an audiovisual concert, a collaboration of Recent Arts with Argentinean singer Barbie Williams. The show is composed by different audiovisual pieces. These are made with video sessions where performers and dancers embraced the body in the form of improvised movements based on the music of Tobias Freund. These improvisations will be filtered through Valentina´s experiences, emotions and conceptual ideas to create a poetic story line. Throughout the show the bodies in tandem with haunting musical landscapes, will tell stories and generate tensions, inviting the audience to think about the limits and possibilities of their own bodies.
Music will be performed live with a looper using a bass guitar running through a freezer, as well as drum synth that plays in real time non qantized beats. Simultaneously, there will be vocal improvisations. The music style is basically drone and simple broken beats. Videos will be played and mixed live with the video software VDMX. The concept of skin will be developed in the stage design, the show will be performed behind a translucent screen and it is through lightning effects that Recent Arts will be seen by the audience. The transparent screen is used as a metaphor of the skin, a boundary and a semi-permeable membrane that divides the inside from the outside, a site at which ideas of surface and depth intersect and emerge. All elements of the show, music, lights, video projections and the live singing will create a sense of union.
The Skin will be revealed in its dualistic complexity as something that covers and discloses, at once porous and opaque, mundane and yet mysterious, a fact and a symbol. We are able to aesthetically represent the visible and tangible surfaces of our bodies but at the end the knowledge of the body can only come through the experience of inhabiting one.
In the creation of the videos Recent Arts worked with dancers Xenia Wiest, Shiori Tada, Rob Fordeyn and performers Simona Marini and Desireh.

Phase Fatale — "Reverse Fall" [o-ton 113]
Inspired by 1973 J. G. Ballard novel Crash, "Reverse Fall" makes Phase Fatale's debut release on Ostgut Ton and is to be released on July 13th, 2018.
"...having previously released on labels such as Jealous God, Payne made his Unterton debut with last year’s Anubis EP. Since then he has settled into residences at both Berghain in Berlin and Khidi in Tbilisi, released his first LP on Hospital Productions and kicked off his own label BITE with a collaborative EP between himself and Silent Servant.
On his debut 4-track EP for Ostgut Ton, Reverse Fall, The New York native has sharpened the rhythmic contours of his productions, creating an imposing wall of sound within the techno framework."

ANFS records an enormous collage of dirty, sleazy shapes, connecting the past, present and future of our beloved world of industrial sound.
“The idea behind this slow paced mix for Secret 13, was to make a sound collage of new tracks that i liked over the last years, combined with some older ones that have inspired me through the time, plus some edits and forthcoming material, all based on abstract and industrial rhythmic sounds and textures.”
